In episode 4, Martin Blackburn (UK People Director at KPMG) uses his expertise to discuss the role of HR today and how it may need to change in the future.
He considers how organisations are adapting their work culture to allow people to work where and when they believe they work best, whilst also trying to maintain the ability for everyone to communicate and work as a team to ensure they feel engaged with their companies. Martin considers HR’s responsibility within organisations, mainly focusing on HR’s requirement to service the needs of its stakeholders now and pre-empting for the future of the people processes.
Martin argues that the role of HR is to support the organisation in moving from today to the future, whilst ensuring the organisation remembers it is working with individual people. He considers the expectations of the varying generations in the workforce and how HR can support the organisation through these trends by using the data they have.
