Role Overview: We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Backend Developer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining the backend systems that power our innovative products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that meet the needs of our users. Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, develop, and maintain robust backend systems using Node.js and Next.js.
- Integrate and manage event-driven systems using Apache Kafka.
- Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver seamless user experiences.
- Ensure code quality, performance, and reliability through best practices, including code reviews and testing.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, and scale backend services to handle increasing traffic.
- Contribute to system architecture decisions and lead the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
- Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in backend development, with a strong proficiency in Node.js and Next.js.
- Proven experience with Apache Kafka or similar event streaming platforms.
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and relational databases.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Living in Berlin or willing to relocate.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
