The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Engineering Director to lead and develop our talented software engineering teams. This is a crucial leadership role, focusing on strategic decision-making, team development, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable software solutions. You will be instrumental in shaping our engineering culture and driving our technological vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Management:
    • Lead and mentor 2 teams of 10-12 engineers, fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing environment.
    • Provide technical guidance, performance management, and career development opportunities for team members.
    • Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent.
    • Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Strategic Decision Making:
    • Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to define and execute the engineering roadmap.
    • Make critical technical decisions regarding architecture, technology stacks, and development processes.
    • Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance our platform and drive innovation.
    • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our software systems.
  • Delivery & Execution:
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
    • Implement and optimize agile development methodologies.
    • Monitor and report on team performance and project progress.
    • Resolve technical roadblocks and mitigate risks.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Effectively communicate technical concepts and strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and operations.
    • Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration within the engineering organization.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or Director, leading and managing software engineering teams.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and scale high-performing engineering teams.
    • Strong track record of delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
    • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment, preferably within the fintech industry.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Solid understanding of software development principles, best practices, and architecture.
    • Experience with modern software development technologies and cloud platforms.
    • While our current stack is primarily Node.js, we are open to candidates with a strong background in other relevant technologies.
    • Ability to understand and evaluate technical designs and architecture.
  • Leadership Skills:
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Ability to motivate and inspire teams.  
    • Strategic thinking and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
