Henry examines why exactly GDPR is needed in the current climate, the impact of Brexit and the repercussions from the government for non-compliance.
GDPR is the biggest rewrite of data and privacy laws in Europe for 20 years and is a topic on every businesses’ mind.
Bio
Henry is a former NW Regional winner of Engineers For Britain competition, who after his post-graduate engineering studies at Cambridge started his career at a Project Management consultancy for engineering clients.
This was followed by his first banking role, at Capital One, in a position which alternated between analytics for product modelling and development, to project-managing the launch of new credit card products. This position was followed by a move to London and the analytics and project-management of growing credit card portfolios at Barclaycard Providian, via the mechanisms of credit line increases, convenience cheques, cheque-book cheques and statement cheques.
Since then Henry has brought the numerical and analytical methods of credit card-issuers to the world of current accounts at RBSG, followed by ten further years’ experience in a mix of banking, telecoms and retail line-management and consultancy roles. These include programme-managing the discontinuation of travellers’ cheques in 55 countries simultaneously for HSBC, and a most enjoyable and fascinating spell as Interim Head of Analytics at the digital ‘challenger bank’ Tandem.
Since early 2016 Henry has devoted his time to GDPR and PMO / Programme Management turnaround contract roles. Drawing on his programme and data management experience, he is currently building a GDPR compliance implementation business. A particular interest is helping organisations take a pragmatic and commercial route through the imminent requirements, using his experience and knowledge from the ICO and other sources to prioritise the work efforts.
In previous years Henry spent his leisure time as a competitive rower but these days he opts for altogether drier and less strenuous sporting pursuits like running and the occasional game of snooker.
