Annapurna’s First Visit to the Soup Kitchen

Director Charlie Appleyard and Marketing Consultant Lucy Barclay cooked up a storm yesterday at the Soup Kitchen on Tottenham Court Road.  On the menu was a lot more than the name ‘Soup Kitchen’ suggests.  Soup Kitchen attendees were provided with tea, coffee, soup, bread, sandwiches, a sweet and sour chicken dish/ vegetarian stir fry, cookies and a dessert.  We helped cook and serve meals for approximately 50 people yesterday, who have found themselves homeless, marginally homeless or lonely in London.  Birthday cake was also on the menu as the Soup Kitchen Director, Miranda, celebrated her birthday.

The Soup Kitchen has a real community and friendly feel.  Helping to cook and serve these much needed hot meals provided real food for thought.

Annapurna is supporting the Soup Kitchen as part of Annapurna Giving in 2014.  In the coming months, we will continue to provide our support by sending volunteers to help in the kitchen itself, as well as providing IT support to those who need using the laptops we donated back in March of this year.
