Job Title: Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: Hybrid / Derby
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Rate: £850 p/d INSIDE IR35
Job Purpose/Summary:
The Interim CFO is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company, ensuring financial stability and driving financial strategy during a transitional period. This role involves managing company finances, including financial planning, risk management, record-keeping, and financial reporting, while providing leadership to the finance team and supporting the overall business strategy.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership:
- Develop and implement the financial strategy of the organization in alignment with overall business objectives.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO, board, and senior leadership.
- Manage financial forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting processes.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making.

Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Lead the preparation and presentation of financial budgets and forecasts.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to monitor performance, identify trends, and suggest areas for improvement.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure liquidity.

Financial Operations:
- Oversee the accounting, treasury, tax, and audit functions.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory financial reporting requirements.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through appropriate control measures.
- Oversee the development of financial systems and policies that enhance the company’s risk management framework.
- Ensure that internal controls are in place and operating effectively.

Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, ensuring high levels of performance and engagement.
- Drive change management and process improvements within the finance function.

Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with senior leadership, board members, and external stakeholders (e.g., auditors, banks, investors).
- Act as the primary financial spokesperson for the organization and represent financial interests at board meetings.

Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure that the company complies with all applicable financial regulations, laws, and internal policies.
- Maintain relationships with external auditors and coordinate audit activities.
- Oversee tax strategy and ensure compliance with tax laws and filing requirements.

- Financial Acumen: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading and developing finance teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

Qualifications:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) required.
- MBA or advanced financial qualification (desirable but not essential).

Experience:
- Significant experience as a CFO or senior financial leader, preferably in a similar industry or interim capacity.
- Strong track record of leading finance teams and driving financial strategy in a transitional or growth environment.
- Experience in managing financial restructuring, M&A, or business transformation projects (desirable).
- Solid knowledge of financial systems, ERP systems, and related software.
