The recruitment industry is worth 26.5 billion pounds. There are 120,000 recruiters and 8,000 agencies in the UK. Yet we are the only one that continually gives 1% of our turnover to charity. If every agency was like Annapurna, an extra 26.5 million pounds would have gone to charity last year.
We believe that business should not be about taking. Our aim is to inspire a culture of giving and be the change we want to see in the industry. Our approach to business is reflected in our unique CSR strategy. We go the extra mile, we want the best for our clients and candidates as well as the environmental and social causes we support.
Annapurna , from day one has been a key advocator of socially responsible and ethical business. Originally a member of 1% for the planet, we gave £34,000 of our turnover to charity in 2012. However having to get special dispensation from 1% for the planet to donate to Beacon of Hope in Cornwall, our charitable interests changed.
We wanted to do more. 1% for the planet restricted us to donating to environmental charities alone. It wasn’t enough. Annapurna was built on the mantra of environmentally sustainable business, but the directors decided that that needed to extend to making a social difference to people’s lives as well. This has been the idea behind Annapurna Giving.
This year the company’s directors Nigel Fox, Charlie Appleyard and James Ballard have selected 6 charities that they feel strongly about and would like to make a difference to in 2014. These charities are Fresh2o, Amnesty International, The Soup Kitchen, Haven’s Hospices, Golden Giving and British Red Cross.
Over the year we will be updating you with the progress our supported charities are making and how our money and time is helping those in need. This is all part of our unique CSR strategy.
You too can get involved in helping us raise funds for our chosen charities. Find out how by visiting our web page www.annapurnarecruitment.com/what-is-annapurna-giving/
