Parkinson’s UK selected as charity partner of Annapurna Recruitment

Annapurna Recruitment is delighted to announce a new charity partnership with Parkinson’s UK.

Annapurna selected the Parkinson’s research and support charity due to a personal connection with the condition.

Our consultants aim to raise £30,000 in the first year of the partnership, boosted by a team of five employees who have signed up to run the London marathon in April 2017.

As well as committing to raising funds, members of the Annapurna team will also be using their expertise in the charity’s HR department to help cut costs and provide pro bono support.

Paul Jackson-Clark, Director of Fundraising at Parkinson’s UK, said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen as a partner of Annapurna Recruitment and we are really looking forward to working with them throughout the partnership.

“As a charity, our work is dependent on donations so we strive to ensure we are working in the most efficient way. I’m sure the insights from Annapurna staff will be invaluable to us, as well as their fundraising efforts.”

The partnership will also build on existing donations from the company. Annapurna founder Charlie Appleyard has a close relationship with Sky Sports Presenter Dave Clark who has been living with Parkinson’s since 2011. In September, Dave completed a 200-mile Coast to Coast walk for the charity, for which Annapurna Recruitment was pleased to raise £10,000 which was added to his fundraising total.

If you’d like to congratulate Dave on his accomplishment, please donate to his JustGiving page here:

Charlie Appleyard, Founder & Director at Annapurna, had this to say:

“We are delighted to have Parkinson’s UK as part of the Annapurna Giving initiative. It’s a cause very close to our heart. The charity do fantastic work. Hopefully our donations will help the London helpline go from strength to strength.”

All money raised from the partnership will be used to fund a confidential helpline and support services for people affected by Parkinson’s in the London region, including a local advisor.

Parkinson’s UK will join a list of charity partners which is part of Annapurna’s charity arm, Annapurna Giving, including Amnesty International, Friends of the Earth and Little Havens Hospices.

About Parkinson’s

Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s.

It affects 127,000 people in the UK – which is around one in 500 of the population.

Parkinson’s is a degenerative neurological condition, for which there currently is no cure. The main symptoms of the condition are tremor, slowness of movement and rigidity.

Symptoms vary from person to person, so people with Parkinson’s can benefit hugely from local groups which provide support and an opportunity to share experiences with others in a similar situation.

Parkinson’s UK is the UK’s leading charity supporting those with the condition. Its mission is to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s through cutting edge research, information, support and campaigning.
