We all have a bad day at the office every now and then, maybe even a bad week or two. However, if you’ve arrived at the point where you can not remember your last good day of work, this is probably a point in time to consider looking at other options. If you’ve noticed the following signs more frequently in the past few months, it might be time to clear your desk and move on:
You’re Always Bored
If you haven’t felt challenged for a long time and have reported this to your manager with still no success, then it may be time to change your job. Even if boredom is a very common feeling, ongoing boredom can be a signal that you’re not doing what you really want and looking for more sense in your tasks.
You Have The Feeling That You Can Never Win
Your job is meant to give you a challenge so that you go home with a sense of satisfaction at the end of the day. You should not always feel like you are constantly fighting a lost battle.
You Are Very Careful With Your Words
If you are constantly asking yourself “How would this be interpreted”? or “Does my answer relate to my colleagues’ thoughts?”, then you should definitely think about finding your next place of work. If you cannot be genuine in work and feel that you are putting on a front then it’s time to look for another role.
Your Main Worry Is Money
Many people are concerned about money, but if it is something that is constantly on your mind, it could be because you are not paid sufficiently. Think about your reasoning behind a salary increase and if you’ve been working at your company for a long time, have a chat with your manager.
You Don’t See A Long-Term Future
Try to imagine how it would still be with your current employer in 12 months. What position are you in? Who is your boss and which team do you lead? If you do not like the illusion of this future then it’s time to pack your bags.
